Shelter Rock School Activities


Teen Mentors from Morris Street School and Shelter Rock School

attended the State 4-H Citizenship Day, April 15, 2015.

Teens coordinated activities that included an active exploration of the day's theme:

Living Out the 4th H: The Science of Healthy Living. Activities included:

• Wii games. Teens measured heart rate of participants before and after playing fitness games. Activities demonstrated that fitness can be fun.

• Gardening. Teens explained the importance of cleanliness and encouraged

 the idea of growing your own food and eating fresh.

• Advertising. Presented a video on healthy living campaign.

Participants created their own healthy living campaigns.

Teens created video of participants creating campaigns.

• BMI. explain obesity and some of the reasons behind it.

Teens measured the amount of sugar in a 20 oz Coke bottle and

read nutrition labels for fat content.
